This is a deeply therapeutic massage designed for individuals recovering from breast and chest surgeries. Whether you’re navigating recovery from a mastectomy, lumpectomy, breast lift, reduction, or C-section, this treatment supports physical healing and emotional integration with compassionate, evidence-informed care.
Massage therapy after surgery can:
- Encourage lymphatic flow, reducing swelling and inflammation
- Support circulation and oxygenation of healing tissues
- Gently address fascial restrictions and scar tissue adhesions
- Improve range of motion, especially in the chest, shoulders, diaphragm, abdomen, neck, and head.
- Gently unwind the body’s holding patterns.
- Promote a sense of safety, connection, and self-awareness after medical trauma
When appropriate, we may also incorporate: Castor oil, paraffin wax, or myofascial glide techniques – used only when the scar is fully healed, not inflamed, and with written consent from your oncologist, plastic surgeon, or primary care physician.
What to Expect During Your Breast Tissue Massage
Breast tissue is never massaged without your written and verbal consent.
Even if you’ve provided written consent, your verbal consent will be reconfirmed before beginning. You may decline or modify this part of the massage at any time – no questions asked.
You will begin by filling out a confidential intake form, including questions about breast health and general wellness. Prior to your appointment, I will review your responses, and if I have any questions or need clarification regarding your health, I will reach out to you directly.
Before the massage begins, we will take a few moments to go over the form together, and I will explain each step of the treatment. You will have time to ask questions, and you’ll change privately.
Nipple covers are available and offered for additional coverage and comfort. Massage to the breast tissue will only be performed with both verbal and written consent. Even if consent is provided, it can be changed at any time.
The nipple and areola are never massaged. Only one breast is uncovered at a time; all other areas remain securely and professionally draped. You may also choose to receive the massage through the sheet or opt out entirely.
